MAINTAINER · AWAKE Jake Pretender to the throne of Dominions documentation
I’m forty, I have two daughters, and I like thinking about games considerably more than I like playing them.
It started in the nineties, carrying two-hundred-page combat flight sim manuals around like paperbacks. I never got especially good at the sims. I did read every page on how the radar worked.
Dominions 6 is the last game that still ships like that — enormous, half-documented, and far more interesting under the hood than on the surface. My idea of fun, apparently, is reverse engineering.
I have the specific strain of autism that produces wiki pages about strategy games that still look like 1996. I’m fond of it. This is one of those wiki pages.
Written down so I stop being asked in Discord.
Why trust this wiki Not because I’m good at Dominions. I’m not. Because every number here carries the patch it was checked against, and the pages where I’m guessing say so.
Where the numbers come from
Every number here is labelled with how it is known and with the version of the game it was checked against. Findings from my own tests come from the game itself: battles played, logged and counted, each finding stating how many runs it rests on. They are gathered on the research pages, and anything I only suspect is labelled as a suspicion, never as a fact.
Documented values come from the manual or from patch notes, and the page says which. Unit, spell and item data is imported from Dom6 Inspector, a public fan-made tool, and the art comes from the same place. Both are credited on every page that uses them. Dominions 6 and its art belong to Illwinter Game Design.
